Obituary

Robert "Bob" Cook passed away at the age of 80 on April 19, 2023, in Magnolia, Texas. His battle with medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with grit & wit, always quick with a quip. Despite the pain, he fought to remain with his family to the end.

As a young man, Bob spent his summers honing his scouting and fishing skills while exploring the shore and sea surrounding Long Beach Island. His sister Jean would be by his side on many outdoor expeditions.  They accumulated many memories to cherish and stories to share. His father, Battalion Fire Chief, instilled in him a sense of duty, community and heightened sensitivity of safety.  His mother encouraged and instigated everything creative and whimsy, sometimes a little mischievous.  He would take this foundation along with his heartfelt desire to make a positive impact into adulthood.  Bob had a great thirst for knowing the Lord and spreading the message of salvation to the younger generation through his leadership in the Boys' Brigade.  Providing a positive Christian role model to boys in need.

Married 58 years, Bob and his wife, Gerrie both attended Lincoln High School in Philadelphia. They met at one of the many dances held by the local churches.  Ironically, they lived only a block away from each other but didn't meet until high school.  They started dating while he attended Drexel University.  He was the high school Class President and she a cheerleader, this was a great match for the adventures ahead.

His eye for detail, analytical mind, and technical inclinations sparked his study in architecture which he applied at his work in Engineering and as Health & Safety Manager.  These traits were also reflected in his known "working garage" of on-going creations, always eager to help family and friends. He was often spotted whistling along in his "Live Slow" tee shirt, echoing his contentment puttering at projects. From building forts, toys, go-carts, detailed mini-houses, elaborate working train exhibits at the holidays, fixing cars or anything that was a challenge, to building a home with his son, Bob was the quintessential "Mr. Fix-It."

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert S. Cook and mother, Irma A. Boettinger Cook.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine and children, Robert, Debra, Michael and Katherine; grandchildren, Chelsey, Sean, Blake, Kaitlyn, Hailey, Cheyenne, Robert and Tyler; his sister, Jean and family.

Services are scheduled at Crossroads Baptist Church, 5000 College Park Dr., The Woodlands, Texas on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 10:00 a.m.

His care has been entrusted to Claire Brothers Funeral Home, 7901 Hillcroft Street, Houston, Texas 77081.
