Obituary

Houston bids farewell to a remarkable gentleman, Oscar F. Ramirez, who passed away on Sunday, November 5th at the age of 80 in his beloved hometown. Oscar's beautifully kind presence and enduring legacy have left an enormous mark on the lives he touched throughout his extraordinary journey.

Born on a Sunday in Houston, Texas on August 29, 1943, Oscar was one of nine children born to the late Pedro and Margarita Ramirez. From an early age, it was evident that he possessed a unique spirit and strong passion for life. As a young boy, he was known for his mesmerizing blue eyes, infectious laughter, and boundless curiosity that led him on countless adventures.

Oscar's thirst for knowledge led him to excel in the field of electronics. His insatiable appetite for learning, friendly personality, and sharp wit propelled him towards entrepreneurship where he pursued his passion for business and networking. He teamed up with his brother, Ernest Ramirez, and together they started O&E Electronics in 1980. With the support of family and friends, Oscar championed a brilliant career that spanned over four decades. As a dedicated business owner, Oscar played a pivotal role in numerous deals that shaped the electronics parts landscape in Houston. His commitment to excellence and meticulous attention to detail earned him the admiration and respect of his clients all over the city. Oscar's ingenuity in business and customer service will forever be remembered as a testament to his work ethic and brilliance.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Oscar was an unwavering family man at heart. He married the love of his life, Carmen, in 1958, and together they built a bond filled with unconditional love, trust, and support. Their union was blessed with three magnetic children - Louis, Debra, and Elizabeth - who were the center of their world. Oscar's role as a devoted husband and father brought him immeasurable joy, and his grandchildren are honored to carry his legacy forward with pride.

Outside of work and family, Oscar found solace in diverse interests. As a voracious reader, he would easily fill multiple boxes full of books read from so many different authors. In his younger years, Oscar loved to go bowling, play golf, and play cards with his family and friends. Oscar also had a deep appreciation for Mexican comfort food and would tell stories about the wonderful meals his mother would make for him and his siblings when they were younger. He loved his wife's cooking and couldn't wait to get home to her delicious tortillas and carne guisada. Oscar and Carmen enjoyed going on gambling trips together where she would frequently get lucky on slot machines and he would play Blackjack. They enjoyed watching their novelas together and loved stopping by Shipley's for some glazed donuts and coffee. We absolutely find solace in the knowledge that Oscar has been reunited with his loving wife, Carmen. It was their love that shaped him into the remarkable man we had the privilege of knowing and loving.

As we gather to celebrate Oscar's life, we also remember and honor those who preceded him in death, including his beloved wife - Carmen Ramirez, his son - Louis Fernando Ramirez, his daughter - Elizabeth Ann Ramirez, his granddaughter - Ariel Nicole Arellano, his parents - Pedro and Margarita Ramirez, his brothers - Fernando and Ernest Ramirez, and his sister - Virginia Ramirez. Their loving memories will forever remain intertwined with Oscar's own.

Oscar leaves behind a strong legacy that will be lovingly carried in the hearts of his daughter, Debra Ann Skees, his 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends, all of whom were fortunate to have shared in his beautiful life journey.

Oscar will be remembered for his warm hugs, extreme kindness, and calm demeanor. His door was always open, and his gentle wisdom provided solace and guidance to all who sought his counsel. He touched the lives of countless individuals and will forever be cherished as a beacon of light and goodness within his network of family and friends.

A celebration of Oscar's life will take place on Thursday, November 9th, 2023 at Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Houston, where family and friends will gather to pay their respects, share cherished memories, and find solace in each other's company.

As we bid farewell to Oscar, let us remember the lessons he taught us about love, kindness, and the importance of embracing every moment we have left. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to guide us.
