Margrette Gladney was born to Bessie and Sylvester Rodgers on July  12, 1930 in Atlanta, Louisiana. Margrette was a product of the Atlanta, Louisiana Independent School District, having attended Atlanta Elementary and graduating from Atlanta High School.

Although Margrette never had any biological children, God blessed her to become the proudest mom of a baby girl, whom she named Denise Marie Gladney, now an adult.

Margrette was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Gladney; 2 brothers, 3 sisters and her parents.

Margrette will forever be loved, cherished and remembered by her family and friends. She will also be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Denise Gladney and her grandsons, which she simply adored, Christian and Gabriel Shanklin.

Margrette's life was shared with a multitude of relatives and faithful friends who completed her surviving family. With her last 12 years being spent at the Optimum Care Home they blended like family that loved on her and cared for her until the very end. If we didn't know anything else, we know she echoed the same.

Perhaps you sent a lovely card or sat quietly in a chair, Perhaps you sent a floral piece, If so, we saw it there. Perhaps you sent or spoke kind words, As any friend could say,  Perhaps you were not there at all, Just a thought of us that day. Whatever you did to console the heart, we thank you so much!
