Taylor Bard
Nov 5, 1928 — Mar 4, 2023
The youngest of 9 surviving children, "Judy" was born in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, to Joseph James Taylor and Mary Evelyn Smith Taylor.
Judy was raised the majority of her life in Huttig, Arkansas, where she was a star on her high school girls' basketball team. After graduating from high school, she moved to Bogalusa, Louisiana, where she met her future husband, John Bard. They would eventually have one daughter, Patricia Susan, move to Arkansas and live until John's deathi n 1968.
While raising a family, Judy enjoyed being a Girl Scout leader, assisting the local priest with catechism lessons, and becoming an avid bridge player. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, spending time with her sisters, nieces and nephews. Her fondest stories to re-tell were about how much she enjoyed going to social events where she and John could enjoy dancing jitterbug to the music of the day, or to their favorite Dixie Land bands. She loved telling people about how they had once won a jitterbug contest at a Knights of Columbus party.
Once moving to Houston, she worked 20 years for Kellogg, Brown & Root. After retiring she renewed her interest in bridge, and enjoyed volunteering at Second Blessing Resale, part of West Houston Ministries.
