Obituary

Edwin Jerome Woods, age 58, was born November 3, 1964 and passed away October 29, 2023.

Also known as Ed, Ned, and Hollywood, no matter what name you chose to call him, he was always a gentleman, respectful and kind. Ed married his high school sweetheart, Jeneen, and was blessed with one loving daughter, Jacqueline. He loved his family and always made sure he provided well for them.

Ed attended Smiley High School, graduated from Forest Brook High School, and attended Texas Southern University. Ed always wanted to fly airplanes and started accumulating his flight hours to become a Pilot until Covid-19 surfaced.

Ed was athletic, worked out at the gym 5-6 times a week, loved sports, he played Safety position in middle school and played all sports in high school. Ed refereed little league baseball as an adult, played golf and often engaged in fishing and hunting. His favorite sports teams: Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Astros.

Ed worked hard and played hard. He had a dynamic personality, he was well liked, loved to laugh, and was always well groomed, and charismatic, hence the nickname, Hollywood. He was even cast in a movie. As an entrepreneur, Ed owned a tour bus company. At Budweiser, he earned many accolades in recognition of his hard work and good work ethic. He proudly shared each of his certificates of excellence from Budweiser with his family. One of Ed's many achievements came last year when he successfully completed the Stewards Seminar for Teamsters Local Union No. 919.

Ed was truly blessed and showed gratitude for all his blessings. He gave to the homeless and said "Daddy taught me to always be kind to someone in need." Ed was supportive of his family and friends, and quick to say yes when they asked for his help. The good he did came back to him in the form of a beautiful relationship with friend and co-worker, Shany Rose. Ed said, "She's down for me and I'm down for her. "Period!" Ed's family is also grateful that Ed was able to live the last year of life with the love of his life.

Ed always had a positive attitude, even in adversities. A man of strong faith, Ed would always say, "All glory to God." Now he gets to tell God in person that all the Glory belongs to Him. In Jesus's name. Amen.

The family will receive friends for a visitation from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm, Saturday, November 18, 2023. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm at 5th Ward Missionary Baptist Church, 4300 Noble St, Houston, Texas 77020. A burial will follow at Paradise North Cemetery.

His care has been entrusted to Claire Brothers Funeral Home, 7901 Hillcroft Street, Houston, Texas 77081.
